Australian: two carriers connection in Shanghai (144 hr transit)

We are Australian and our plans are as follow.
from Australia to Japan via Shanghai

- stay in Shanghai for 3 days for touring
- depart Shanghai by China Eastern Airlines to Japan
Does 144-hour transit apply to this itinerary when the trip is joint by two different airlines?

thank you
