Traveling through Asia, question about 72 hour visa free transit

We are a couple from Puerto Rico who will be traveling to different countries in Asia. On our way back, we are planning on flying from Japan to Beijing and then leave to San Francisco, CA, USA. Do we qualify for the 72 hours free transit?
