We are(6 people ) arriving Shanghai via princess cruise on May 12, 2016. And depart May 15 to United state pudong airport. Between that day we would like to visit place name changagei (Dayong Airport) for 3 days. Do we qualified for 144 visa free ?

Donald, if you want to use the free transit, you are only allowed to travel around the administrative regions of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. But the place changagei (Dayong Airport) is in Hunan province, so you cannot use the 144 hour free transit. If you want go there for a visit, you should apply for a tourist L type in advance of your trip.
