what is the difference between an F and M?

It seems that some people who are traveling for work, and work for a foreign (non-Chinese) company can go on an F visa?

In brief, the F type is more official than M type. The F type holders are mostly have business with some government organizations, state-own companies or univerisities. If you conduct work in a private company, you can only apply for the M type.
