change s2 visa to student x type within prc, is it possible?

I'm Colombian. I have been in China for 6 months already with a S2 type, and I want to get a student X type. Is it possible to change it in here in China, or do I need to go to Colombia? Thanks

Joanne, you can contact with the exit & entry administration of the local PSB first and consult whether you can change S2 type to X type from there or not. If you get the answer yes, you can do it in PRC without going back to Colombia; but if not, you have to go back and apply for X type.
