About:Chinese Consulate in Edinburgh

Do I need appointment to submit application for HKSAR passport in the Edinburgh Consulate?

I wish to submit an application for HKSAR passport at the Consulate in Edinburgh - do I need to make an appointment prior to my visit? Or is it ok to just go there during office hours?
As for the fees, will I just prepare the cheque prior to submitting?
