Do I have to get my Chinese visa in Nepal if I fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa?

I shall be entering China from Nepal on a direct flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa with a tour. I have heard that I have to get my Chinese entry permit in Kathmandu and cannot get it beforehand in my home country, Canada. Is this true?

It’s true. You have to apply for it in Kathmandu.
