Residence Permit for Foreigners in the People's Republic of China

I have been living in PRC for more than three years, was married to Chinese wife, but got divorced in May 2014. I have a son. In April 2014, I was given a Residence Permit for Foreigners valid for 2 years, which will expire 31 March 2016. I am not working, but providing financial support to my son. I will be receiving my retirement pension each month from USA, which is $1600 USD (10,400 RMB) per month.

Will I be able to renew and apply for a 5 year or 10 year Residence Permit for Foreigners, or get permanent residence permit, so I can continue to stay in PRC and support my son?
