I am cruising from Singapore to Beijing on the Sapphire Princess with a 1 day stopover in Shanghai. The cruise ends in Beijing where I will go from the ship to the airport direct and fly out same day. What sort of entry permit will I need. I'm getting conflicting advice.

John, if you total stay in China does not exceed 24 hours, you can enjoy the free transit policy. Otherwise, please apply for a G type entry permit beforehand. And I heard that many cruise ships may ask for the G type entry permit when you board, even though you are eligible for free transit policy. You had better confirm this with the cruise company.
