About:Prohibited Items

Can I post a parcel containing items labelled "made in China" to Guangzhou? Please see details.

Hi,

My partner and I are working in Guangzhou for 5 months and are flying out next week. Our employer has sent two large ParcelForce boxes for us to post to Guangzhou, saving us travelling with excessive luggage. On researching the parcel force website, under the tab "sending a parcel to CN" it clearly states any items labelled as "Made in CN" are restricted items for mailing to CN

Is this correct? I can seem to find where it states this on the Chinese Embassy website.

Are we OK to separate our "made in CN" items and pack them in our luggage instead?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give.

This is our first time to CN and we count ourselves as responsible travellers and obviously don't want to upset the authorities.

I just checked the website of ParcelForce and other web pages. U are right about the rules. It is disallowed to send things marked with "Made in CN". It is best to separate things with such marks and bring in on your own. Or perhaps it is only the rule of ParcelForce, you may ask your employer to change another carrier for a try!

Thankyou for this Lynn.

This is exactly what we have done. After some research and a call to parcel force we have discovered it was a rule implemented during the Olympics in 2008 and actually caught out many Olympians.
