About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

About my transit

Hi, wanted to ask, if anyone visited Shanghai (or other Chinese no-visa transit city) , using such an itinerary:
home country (in Europe) - connection country A (in Europe) - Shanghai - connection country B (in Europe) - home country?

I double checked possibility of such thing with Chinese Immigration Authority in Shanghai and Chinese Embassy - and they both said it's absolutely OK, since I'd be coming to China from country A and leaving for country B - but, does anyone have a real experience?

As long as you enter from a country to China and then leave for a different country, it will be ok.
