Do you think that is enough time for a quick trip to the city for a look around? I won't have have any luggage to cart around.

Yes, you can go to see the city center during the layover. You may take metro line 3 from CAN to Jiahewanggang Station. Then, change to metro line 2 to Haizhu Square Station. You can tour around the Haizhu Square, see the Pearl River, and stroll on the Beijing Road Pedestrian Road. Remember to come back to CAN at least two hours before departure. You are advised to take a taxi for the return trip to save time.The taxi fare is around CNY 100. Nice trip! ;)
