?-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am flying from Düsseldorf (Germany) to Melbourne via Shanghai (6 hrs layover).
Can I go out of the airport (to the city) during this time?

Bojesse, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit and you are allowed to go out of the airport to the city. But you may be required to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport and it’s free of charge.
