Brand tax and clearance fee on export

I'm buying 5 Tele sets from China. Upon buying the sets, I was asked by the seller to pay brand tax else the goods won't be shipped. Being in Australia and not knowing what to do, I paid the brand tax. Just after that, I'm being asked to pay clearance fee being amount demanded by custom.
Can anyone help me with this? What is clearance fee on export from PRC? And whether this is eligible fee from the custom. Apparently, if this fee is not paid, the goods won't be shipped. I've spent a lot already so I'm confused on what to do. Please help me on what to do next. Thanks.

Seth, I don't know about the brand tax thing. However, I heard bout clearance fee. It does exist. I used to send something abroad. Chinese customs also charged clearance fee. But I didn't know what it was used for.

How did you pay for your tele sets? If you paid via your credit card or paypal, I suggest you cancel the order and get back your money. Just sense that there might be something wrong.

Thanks Lee. That's very helpful. I made the payment through direct bank transfer. I'll find out from the bank if I can File for a refund. Thanks a lot.
