To visit Tiger Leaping Gorge and Bai Shui Tai - from Shangrila or Lijiang

Hey, it is better and more convenient to go to the gorge from Lijiang. And Baishuitai has easier accesses to SGL. If time enough, your travel route can be like this: Lijiang - Gorge - Baishuitai - SGL. At least two days are needed by the way.

And overnight express bus with sleepers is available from Dali. It leaves from local North Bus Station at 18:30 and it takes 7-8h to your destination.

Thank you very much, Joe, for your response. I only have two days in the area. Would you recommend to make a trip (Lijiang - Gorge - Baishuitai - SGL) than spending time in either Lijiang and SGL? If so, is it easy to make a tour on spot. As of now, I am thinking of an itinerary which would take me to Lijiang late in the evening and wondering if I could leave the town early next morning.

To be honest, two days is a little bit too short to cover so many places. You may go to visit Lijiang and the gorge for a smooth trip. Yes, there are coaches to the gorge (Qiaotou Town) from Lijiang Passenger Transport Station at 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning. I hope my advice may help you.

Thanks again for the useful tip. I will try to be at Lijiang earlier in the evening on the date of my arrival there. So, I should be able to get on the morning bus to Gorge. I might be able to get to SGL that evening and head back to Lijiang through Baisuitai on the following day. Wish me luck!!
