72 hour transit visa for touring beijing.

Question

We have USA Passport arriving via AirChina in PEK @ 10:30 PM Feb 28 and departing Via Qatar Air @ 1 AM on Mar 3 to return to USA same city as Departure on Qatar airline (we are required to be checked in by 10:30 PM on Mar 2, 2016.   Our tickets are confirmed, and we check out of our Beijing Hotel on Mar 2nd.  All arrangements for Hotel and touring are confirmed.    No USA travel agent seems to be able to answer if this meets 72 hour free transit requirements.   Your Website seems that we are within required times.

Perry, according to what you said, your layover time in Beijing is more than 72 hours. You’d better contact with the airlines and consult you can still enjoy the free transit or not. If not, I’m afraid you need to apply for a transit G type or tourist L type in advance.
