my family from India would like to visit Hong Kong for ten days and Macau for six days, three family people on a tourist visit.

Nope, you needn't apply anything in advance for these places. However, you'd better book your accommodation in these two places and return air tickets in advance. It's possible that the immigration officers might ask you to provide the related proofs. By the way, please take at least MOP 5000 or equivalent cash when you go to Macau.
