About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Moving locations and switching jobs

Hello! I obtained a resident permit in a different location but am currently in Kunming looking for a new job. I fear that if I tell my current job they will cancel my existing resident permit before I can make the change. Is there a way to change locations before they cancel it without my current employer knowing??

I am afraid not. If you plan to change a job, you should get the release paper from your current employer. It's required for your new employer to get the work permit for you. Therefore, you can't change a job without telling your current employer.

By the way, your current employer can't cancel your resident permit. However, he can inform the entry and exit management bureau to cancel it. Also, he can report to labor bureau to cancel your employment certificate too.
