Moving Help

Hello,

We are moving to China after this summer. We understand our shipment in is not subjected to duty or tax which will be majority of our stuff. In two weeks, we are going out there early to see where we are moving to and plan to bring six suitcases of our stuff with us. Mostly clothes, a few electronics and household items, so we have it right when we get there in July.

Will we be charged duites on our our suitcases that we bring in? We see there is a 2,000rmb limit but not sure if that is total or per item? Thank you for any assistance with this as we can not find anymore information anywhere about it.

If you validity of China visa is no more than one year, then there is a 2,000 RMB limit for total. For those holders of R, Q1, S1 visas with validity of over one year and can provide a residence permit or work permit , can apply for duty-free customs clearance for the first personal shipment to Mainland China (except for those items that are not duty-free according to Customs regulations.
