Day 1: Arrive Shanghai (PVG) from Los Angeles by China Eastern at 6am. Travel to Suzhou. Sleep in Suzhou.Day 2: At 0:00:00 start the 72 period. Sightseeing Suzhou.  Sleep in Suzhou.Day 3: Sightseeing Suzhou, will go to Tongli. Sleep in Suzhou.Day 4: Back to Shanghai. Depart to India in China Eastern at 21:10As I understand my free transit will finish at 11:59:59 day 4th Is this correct?

Juan, it’s correct. You layover time is eligible for the 72 hour free transit. However, in principle, if you transit in Shanghai, you cannot travel to other cities. In this way, your travel to Suzhou is not allowed. But in real practice, someone did visit other city when using the 72 hour free transit.
