Sid, is it a knife? You know, China has strict rules on controlled knives, referring to whose knife edge is longer than 9cm or its total length is longer than 21cm. They are not allowed to be taken in carry-on and checked luggage. However, I am unfamilar with your airline regulations. So you'd better consult with your airline first. If you are allowed to take it, then you should go through the red channel and tell the truth to the staff. Let them decide whether you can take or not.
