bring souvenir blunt weapon on train

I bought a dagger in a souvenir shop for a friend (its edges are blunt and it is packed), and I wish to take it with me on a 10 hour normal train journey. Is this at all possible? If yes, is there anything required to do at the train station before departure? Thanks for the help.

I suppose this cannot go through the security check, sometimes even a fruit knife can be confiscated. Maybe you need to use a express service instead.
