About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I quickly visit the city using the "72-hour visa-free transit policy"?

On a flight from Taipei to Sanya (Hainan) I have to wait 6 hours in Gaungzhou. I'm from Belgium.

Chris, I’m afraid you cannot using the 72 hour free transit because according to your flight route, you will stop over in two Chinese cities, Sanya and Guangzhou. But in regard of the 72 hour policy, you can only transit in one Chinese city.

If your total transit is less than 24 hours, then you can use 24 hours free transit policy. It means that you needn't apply anything in advance. However, you need to apply for a stay permit in the first airport.

I normaly could get an entry permit on arrival in Sanya (Hainan), because I fly there from Taipei, but because I go through Guangzhou (and like to visit the city, because 6 hours is to long to sit in an airport) its no longer possible. So I have to get a regular entry permit for China, and that is quit a hassle, and requires me to drive to Brussels 2 times. I just want to be sure that I'm not refused any entry.
