About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Taking a CRUISE from Shanghai.

US passport holder, residing in Thailand, planning a 5 day cruise leaving from Shanghai to returning to Shanghai. Cruise visits Japan & Korea. Will the 72hr free Visa work for me?? Thank you kindly.

Hi John. As you will enter Shanghai by cruise ship, you can't use the 72-hour free transit. But each time you enter China, if the total layover time is not longer than 24 hours, you can enjoy the 24-hour direct transfer policy.

My first entry into China is by plane, then cruise ship, leaving China after 24 hour, then cruising Japan & Korea then re-entering Shanghai-China by cruise-ship, then leaving China by air again..
Maybe it is more acurate now to get a definite answer... Thank you
