About:Chinese Red Envelope

What if giving red envelopes to the older?

I'm in my teens, and I know someone who is older than me. They are non-Asian, so I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give them a $2 bill. But I know in tradition, it's usually the older person giving to the younger. So I was wondering if it would be bad luck if I decided to give them a red pocket.

Neet, you won't get unlucky if you give them a $2 bill. But I don't know what they have on their mind when receiving your red pocket. Perhaps, they might feel unhappy or even insulted. It's hard to tell.
