About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Q2 to residence permit

I currently hold a Q2 visa and am planning to study in China for 5 month. Will I be able to apply for a residence permit when I arrive or do I have to/can I apply for an X2 type?

LA, you have to apply for X2 type to enter PRC and study. Anyway, if you enter with Q2 type or X2 type, you cannot get a residence permit.
