VISA necessary for cruise stop in Hong Kong?

i will be stopping in Hong Kong on a Princess cruise. The ship is spending the night in Hong Kong. I am not visiting any other city in the PRC. Am I required to have an entry permit for China? Thank you.

Linda, you don’t need an entry permit because you hold American passport and you can enter HK freely for a stay of no more than 90 days.
