About:Gubei Water Town

Simatai and Water Great Wall or huanghuacheng

Hi.
I'm a little confused about the Simatai, Water Great Wall or Huang hua cheng. Are they the same spot/place?

Actually i want to see the gubei town and great wall or Huang hua cheng (I don't know either they're the same spot or not).

If they're different, can you please tell me how to get the wall/ huang hua cheng from simatai / the old town.

Thanks a lot!!

Well, the Gubei Water Town is at the foot of Simatai Great Wall. About the water Wall, I think you are talking about Huanghuacheng, as it is the only section by waterside in BJ. The Huanghuacheng Great Wall is also known as Water Great Wall. Simatai and Huanghuacheng are two different sections. After visiting the Gubei Water Town, you can go to visit the nearby Simatai Great Wall. Afterwards, you may proceed to Huanghuacheng.

It's not very convenient from Simatai to Huanghuacheng by public transport as both of them are located in suburban areas. If possible, you'd better hire a private car.
If insist, here is the itinerary:take bus line Mi 37 from Simatai Village to Huayun Market Station. Next, change to bus line Jiao 80 from the south gate of Garden Community to Nanhuayuan Siqu Station. Then, transfer to line h21 to Xiaoxihu station, and you can see Huanghuacheng Great Wall. :)

It is not an old town. It is actually built up from scratch enterprise. All the bricks and bridges that you see are new only made to look old. WT is the Hollywood set of old China. It's worth the admission fee, I went there only a month ago (in winter). It is very quiet, not a lot of people was there as we were near the closing time. The weather was sunny, cloudless and -18 degrees centigrade so you need to rugged up pretty well once you start exploring the large playground. There's a lot of food options and accommodation, the entry of the township even have a Starbucks. If you come expecting an "ancient" township you will leave sore disappointed. If you like an ancient Chinese theme park sans the rides, welcome to the town.

Ya, I heard too it was built about 17 years ago to resemble an old town.
