Z visa for Irish passport holder in Hong Kong

Hi, I'm an Irish passport holder and have a job offer from Guangdong province. I'm getting conflicting information but can I apply for my Z type from Hong Kong, rather than having to go back home to get it?

Gavin, usually, it’s hard to apply for mainland PRC entry permit in HK if you don’t have HK residence permit.
However, it’s not that absolute and some applicants obtained it eventually. Thus, it is worth a try to apply for Z type from HK. If it wouldn’t work, I’m afraid you need to go back to get it.
