We are UK residents travelling the world, can we obtain a Chinese entry permit somewhere in Hong Kong that will allow us to visit Beijing for Chinese New Year as tourists?

Katie, in principle, if you don’t have HK residence permit, it’s difficult for you to apply for PRC entry permit in HK. But in practice, it is possible for one to get it and someone has done that successfully before. You can have a try and apply for it at the office of the commissioner of the ministry of foreign affairs of PRC in HK.
