Applying for L type Visa in Sri Lanka

Hi there,

I am an Australian citizen hoping to obtain an L type with a minimum stay of approx 3 months. However, I will only be able to apply for this in Sri Lanka. Will a visa of stay in Sri Lanka be adequate for this application? Or is it likely I will only be granted a single entry 30 day permit? If so, how long is it possible to extend this period once in China? Thank you.

Paddy, it depends. I cannot tell you for sure how many days you can get because the decision is made by the consular officers according to the reasons and documents you provide. It’s not very likely to get the one you want if you apply in Sri Lanka. You can try to apply and see how many days you can get.
It’s possible for you to extend it after your entry. But when you apply for an extension, the extened stay duration won’t exceed the original duration of stay.
