s2 visa for china

i had my s2 type for 6 months and got an extension for an additional 6 months without leaving mainland china.
The extension expires around 18th april, 2016.
Is it possible to get it extended or renewed form hong kong after it expired in april?
or do i have to go to my home country india to renew it?
