leave the airport in guangzhou for 6 hrs

Can I leave the airport without collecting my luggage and get on a tour as I have 6 hrs 50 mins wait for my next flight.  How far is the city - is this a realistic thing to do ? Is there a charge?

Christine, you’d better contact with the airline to confirm whether you need to collect your luggage or not. The airport is about 19 miles from the city center. If you take subway, it will take an hour or so. You can have a short visit but it may be a little pressed for time. You should arrange everything well ahead of time.
