Possible to make single entry visa into double?

Hi there! I have just arrived in China and will be doing a tour to North Korea from the 29th December 2015-2nd January 2016, afterwards I will be travelling in PRC for two months on a tourist L type. I initially had planned to use a 72hour free transit, however my flights were changed a couple of days before departure, and the regulations for the 72hour free transit slipped my mind - my plane stopped over in Shanghai before Beijing, and I am departing for NK from Beijing. I have had to use my tourist L type now instead of later. Is there any possible way to make my L type multiple entry on such short notice? If not, do you think it is smarter to fly to Hong Kong, Macau, or Japan in order to apply for and obtain a new Chinese tourist L type? Thank you!

Dear, I'm afraid you can't do so.
You can try to apply for a new one when you in North Korea. If it does not work, you can go to HK, Macau or Japan to apply for it.

Thank you! The visa centre in NK is closed for the new year period so I have booked flights to HK!
