About:Requirements for Permanent Residence Permit

Permanent residency for a former Chinese citizen.

My friend has got to stay in China with her family for 12 months due to having emergency surgery. She will need further surgery there. She has only just given up her Chinese passport. She has a very large supportive Chinese family. She also has a 6 year old daughter.
So my question is could she obtain permanent residency for herself and her daughter? Could she obtain permanent residency on medical grounds?
Thank you.
George.

Giving up her Chinese passport means that she already gave up her Chinese citizenship too. In her case, I don't think she can apply for the permanent resident permits for her and her daughter. If her daughter's grandparents are still there, perhaps she can apply for Q1 for her daughter so that her daughter can acquire longer stay. Perhaps, she can apply for a S2 type. Duration of stay should be no longer than 180 days.
