Can I bring knitting needles on Cathay flight from HKIA to BKK

I'm flying Cathay Pacific from Toronto, Canada (YKK) to Hong Kong (HKG) and then on to Bangkok (BKK). Can I knit on the flight using my 5" bamboo knitting needles?

I am afraid that they are not allowed to take onbaord for the sake of safety. But you may put the needles in the check-in luggage. For details, it is best to consult your airlines in advance.
