Hong Kong visit with 72 hrs from Guangzhou without a visa

I would like to interrupt my Amsterdam-Shanghai flight in Guangzhou and use the free 72 hrs for a visit to Hong Kong. Is that possible?

Hajo, you mean you will fly from Amsterdam to Guangzhou and then visit HK, after that, you come back to Guangzhou and proceed to Shanghai? If you fly in such a route, you can use the 72 hour free transit for your first entry to Guangzhou.

When your reenter Guangzhou, you are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit policy because you stop over in two cities. If the total layover is not more than 24 hours, you may not need to apply for the entry permit. If the time is longer than 24 hours, you need to apply for an entry permit.

As for HK visit, you can enjoy free entry to HK for a stay of no more than 90 days.
