About:Marriage Registration in China

Question abt marriage

I am a Norwegian and plan to marry a Chinese citizen. If we register our marriage at the Norwegian consulate in China instead of at civil affairs bureau, will the marriage still be legal in China? And if so can I who is Norwegian still apply for the family visit or residence permit?

Dear, accroding to PRC marriage law, people in your case should register marriage at the department of civil affairs of China. If you register your marriage at the Norwegian consulate, the marriage may not be valid in PRC and you can't apply for family visit or residence permit in PRC with it.
