About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

question regarding 72 Hour transit visa exemption

If I travel from los Angeles to Korea via shanghai and my layover to be 15 hours, can i apply for 72 hour free transit visa exemption? I will have confirmed flight ticket with a seat confirmation and I am a south Korean passport. Thank you. Do I need to register into local police station also if I book on the local hotel.

Since you only transit for 15 hours, you don't need to apply for the 72-hour free transit service. The 24-hour free transit will be ok. You need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport to go out. Generally speakng, if you stay in a local hotel, the hotel will register for you.
