About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transiting through China twice in one week, once through Shanghai and once through Beijing

I am travelling on a US passport, travelling from Sydney to Delhi on Jan 01 with an 8 hour layover in Shanghai. Would like to get a transit visa.
Then I travel from Delhi to San Francisco with a two day halt in Beijing on Jan 08. The flight to Beijing is from Delhi-Shanghai-Beijing (plane change in Shanghai).
Can I get a transit permit for Jan 01 for Shanghai (8 hours) and another for Jan 08 for Beijing (2 days)?

There is no restriction on visa entries as long as you satisfy all criteria and hold valid ticket/seat on forwarding flight.

Paul, you don't need to apply for an entry permit for the first-time entry. However, for the second entry, you need to apply for a G type transit permit in advance.
