Transit visa for 10 hours in Shanghai

Hello Guys, I am Indian passport holder and having Australian permanent residency.
I have 16 hours of stay at Shanghai Pudong International Airport in the first week of Jan 2016 while coming from India & then have connecting flight to Melbourne Australia. I want to explore the city. Do I need to apply for any entry permit prior to my visit?
Cheers,

Dear, you don’t need to apply for entry permit in advance because you just transit 10 hours, you can enjoy 24 hour direct transit. If you need to leave the airport and explore the city, you just need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport.
