Police background check

Hi,

I lived in Shanghai for 2 years from August 2010 to June 2012, working as a teacher with Shanghai Normal University. As part of a current job application, I am required to provide a police background check from my time in China, which I do not have a copy of.

Please can you advise me how I can obtain this document without being in the country?

Many thanks,

Daniel Ingham

You need to apply for it from the notary office at where you last lived when you were in PRC. When you apply from the notary office, the office will inform the local public security bureau to issue the non-criminal certificate. And then the notary office will issue the notarization of non-criminal certificate to you. Because you are not in PRC now, you can try to ask your friend there to handle it for you. However, if the notary office stipulates that you should handle it by yourself, I’m afraid you need to come back and do it personally. Can I know where did you live when you were there so that I can find its telephone number? Thus, you can contact whith them and know about the specific information.
