i like to know if there will be any lights on the unofficial date for the 2016 festival. I am travelling on December 26-30 for business?Thank you

Yes! The soft opening time is in late December. So, you will have a chance to beautiful ice lightings, and exquisite ice sculptures. Just it will be very cold. Do wear warm. Have fun!
