About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

What about 2 stops?

I'm going to fly nonstop to Chengdu from Malaysia and stay for 50 hours. Then I have a flight to the United States but I have to change planes in Shanghai. I will not be leaving the airport in Shanghai during a 4 hour lay over. Is this ok or does the flight have to be direct to the US?

If you wanna apply for the 72h transit, you can´t have a 2nd stop in China.
From Chengdu, you must fly nonstop out of China.

It doesn´t matter. if you leave the airport in Shanghai or not.
This stop counts as a 2nd stop.

Either you apply for a chinese visa or you change your flight route with a nonstop flight from Chengdu to a third country.
