About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

transit in Shanghai for 24 hours

Hi, We are travelling from US -> Shanghai -> Bangkok. We have 24hrs layover in Shanghai. Can we get the transit visa in the airport to go and visit Shanghai? Please advise what's the best thing to do. We definitely don't want to spend 24hrs in the airport.

You don´t need a transit visa.

If your stay is under 24h, you can ask for a temporary entry permit to leave the airport.
If it´s over 24h, just ask for the 72h free transit at the immigration.
