shirt term stay should we visit something in guangzhou?

We arrive from Australia at 17:35 on the 31st Dec and depart at 00:05 on the 1st Jan. Should we leave the airport and try to see some sites and if so how and where?

Leonie, I do not suggest you leave the airport for a visit. You arrive at 17:35. If you are quick, you can exit the airplane and get your luggage in 20 minutes. But you will meet the rush hour in the evening no matter you catch a taxi or take the shuttle bus. So I am afraid that you may not have enough time to see some sites and get back in time.
