First, you need to get an invitation letter from duly authorized unit as well as a work license from your employer. Then, prepare your passport and a photocopy of its data page, a properly filled-out application form, a bare-headed photo taken within six months, and maybe a physical examination record. Next, go to the embassy and submit the documents.

You gonna work in China, right? If so, the invitation letter from the company is not enough. You should get the so-called invitation letter from duly authorized unit. This letter is usually issued by the municipal foreign affairs office in the city where the company is located. You can ask your employer to get it for you.
