About:China Customs Declaration

Returned due to exceeded value allowed?

I ordered some athletic apparel from United States and it was to be delivered DHL GM Parcel Priority. The package was returned to shipper marked "exceeded value allowed". What does that mean? The product cost $199.90 and weighed 6.9001 pounds.

Kathy, I guess that it was stopped by your the customs. You'd better contact DHL to figure out what happened.

It was going to China. Does China have a weight or value restriction under 6.9 pounds and or $199.90? Could it mean that DHL would know the apparel would exceed the restrictions or do you think it exceeded DHL's restrictions? I called DHL and they told me to decrease the value of the apparel which is not ethical.

Kathy, it depends on what happened to your parcel. If it was stopped before leaving US, then it should be the US customs who stopped. In this case, you should consult with the customs what regulations they have.

If it was shipped back from PRC, then I think it's Chinese customs who stopped your parcel. According to the rule, the parcel sent from other countries shouldn't be expensive than CNY 1000.
