About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

JFK new york - guangzhou - penang, am i eligible for this 72 hour visa free transit?

i am Us citizen going to penang with transit in Guangzhou.
layover at guangzhou for 8 hours

Dear, actually you don't need to apply for the 72-hour free transit. As your layover is only 8 hours, you can use the 24h direct transit policy.
