About:China Visa

S2 type Visa Extension

Hello, actually we are living as a dependent of student here in china in S2 type. Actually we extended this S2 for 2 months due cancellation of air tickets. Again situation is not improved and tickets is not conformed again. So again we want to extend for 4 months. Can we extend S2 again or not and what are the documents needed?

Indira, it's possible for you to extend it again, but can I know the stay duration of your S2 type? Because the extended duration cannot be more than the stay duration on your S2 type. If your allowed stay duration on the S2 type is two months, then it's impossible for you to extend it for 4 months. The required documents for the extension application include your valid passport, valid temporary accommodation registration form, filled-out application form, the residence permit and passport of the person you visit, an invitation letter issued by the person, and the proof of your relationship certificate authenticated by PRC embassy in your country.

thank you for the reply. Actually, my S2 type was for 180 days. it was already extended for 2 months. Again, we want to extend for 4 months. so can we extend again ?

Dear, you can try to apply for it but it's not assured that you can get the extension because you just got an extension of 2 months for the first time.

Again , we have talked on the matter of S2 extension in the office. They asked for marriage certificate attested by Embassy of our country in PRC. So could we change category as S1 to prolong our stay?

Indira, according to what I know, foreigners can change their visa types after the new entry and exit management law was implemented. So I am afraid that you have little chance to change your S2 into S1. Anyway, you can still ask the office on this issue. By the way, the marriage certficate is still needed if they allow you to change S2 into S1.
